International Day of Women & Girls in Science, 2024

On February 11th, the world celebrates the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, a day dedicated to breaking down the barriers that have held talented women and girls back in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.

This day is not just about acknowledging the challenges; it’s a vibrant celebration of the achievements and potential of women and girls who are shaping the future of STEM.

Take, for instance, Gitanjali Rao, a young scientist who, at just 15 years old, was recognized as TIME’s first-ever “Kid of the Year” for her invention designed to detect lead in drinking water.

Then there’s Sabrina Gonzalez Pasterski, who at 24 years old, has already contributed significantly to the field of high-energy physics.

And let’s not forget Kiara Nirghin, who, as a teenager, developed a super-absorbent polymer to combat drought conditions in her home country, South Africa. These young women represent the bright future of STEM.

Their groundbreaking work not only solves real-world problems but also inspires a new generation of girls to pursue their passions in science and technology. Milleric-Chefs for Change, 2023

The Research based event – ‘Milleric – Chefs for Change’ was a call to the Young Chefs to do research & Present Papers on Millet Food at Grand, T-Nagar, Chennai-600017. The event concerning Research was organized by Parikshan to promote Young Chefs to get into Research on Millets as popular foods.

Out of the 21 Students who participated in the Research Paper presentations, 18 students (17 students of Food science, Nutrition and Dietetics and 01 Student of B.A. Culinary Arts II Year) came up to SEMI-FINALS.

Ms. M. Muthu Chippi (Individually) of Hotel Management & Catering Technology, won the First Prize.

First prize carried Rs.10000/- Cash Award and the Recognition Certificate.

Mr. G. Arun Sevugan. & Ms. R. Shazia (as a team) from B.A. Culinary Arts I Year, got III Prize.
Each got the prize money of Rs.5000/- each and a Certificate of Appreciation.

The Winners were honoured on the Stage on the event day – the 18th October, 2023.

We offer our gratitude to our beloved President Er.A.C.S. Arun Kumar sir for always encouraging and supporting us in a very valuable way.
