]]>The students of the Fitnoush Club, Department of Food Science, Nutrition & Dietetics, conducted a successful Nutrition Awareness Program on December 18, 2024, for the 1st-year B.Arch students. The session focused on key concepts like the food pyramid, my plate, and differences between macro and micronutrients.
The B.Arch students participated in interactive games, energizing exercises, and anthropometric assessments. The event highlighted the importance of nutrition in daily life. The actively participated students were rewarded by the club members.

]]>A total of 37 students participated in the competition, with some competing in more than one category. Our students not only showcased exceptional talent but also won medals and certificates in the bakery competition.
They earned a total of 60 gold medals across three categories:
The highlight of the competition was the enthusiastic participation of our 1st-year students (freshers) from the Department of Hotel Management & Culinary Arts on the 3rd day of the competition, just 10 days after the opening day. These students eagerly joined in after receiving expert training from our bakery faculty.
We express our heartfelt gratitude to our Hon’ble President, respected Vice Chancellor Madam, and all esteemed university officials for their unwavering support, encouragement, and constant motivation, which have been instrumental in our students’ remarkable achievements.

]]>The Budding Chef Challenge brought together 19 students from our department, competing in over 42 categories against participants from 12 leading colleges across India. Judged by internationally renowned chefs Ammar Molki from Lebanon and Ramesh Javvaji from India, the event celebrated creativity, skill, and the innovative “Farm to Table” concept.
This incredible achievement is a testament to the vision and encouragement of our Hon’ble President, whose motivation played a pivotal role in preparing our students to shine at this competition. The triumph brings great pride to the university and the Department of Hotel Management and Culinary Arts, underscoring their commitment to excellence.
The event received extensive coverage from both print and television media, ensuring this success reached audiences nationwide. The glittering medals were a source of immense pride and inspiration for students, faculty, and the entire university community.

]]>World Heart Day aims to educate people about the risk factors of heart disease, including unhealthy diets, lack of exercise, and smoking. It emphasizes the importance of early detection and lifestyle changes to prevent heart conditions. With CVDs being the leading cause of death worldwide, this day serves as a reminder to prioritize heart health for a better quality of life.
The 2024 theme focuses on taking action
To spread awareness on World Heart Day and educate the students about the cardiovascular health, the department of Food Science, Nutrition & Dietetics conducted an open event, inviting Ms. Brinda Rajakumar, M.Sc., NET, Research Dietitian, Madras Diabetes Research Foundation (MDRF), in the Department of “Childhood And Youth Onset Diabetes” to share valuable insights to the students.
World Heart Day 2024 reminds us that small actions can lead to big changes. By “using heart for action,” we can collectively reduce the prevalence of heart diseases and create a healthier future. Let’s take this day as an opportunity to commit to better heart health for ourselves and the world.
