CHEF MANJIT SINGH GILL JOURNAL CLUB

The Journal Club of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Dr. MGR Educational & Research Institute, is named after the famous Chef of India – Chef Manjit Gill, currently the President of the Indian Federation of Culinary Associations.

Chef Manjit Gill Journal Club is mainly formed to have the culinary professionals and those interested in the field to meet frequently to share the common platform. The purpose of meeting will be to discuss on the subjects of culinary in general and on the academic literature in the field of culinary in particular.

The membership in Chef Manjit Gill Journal Club is voluntary. The students in culinary and those who are engaged in research are actively involved in the club to introduce their works to the fellow members and draw their views. The discussions on such topics are both serious and exploratory. Enhancing the levels of knowledge, exploring into the uncovered and new areas in culinary, enriching knowledge through research on traditional foods on how they passed the test of time are the focus areas of activities of members of Chef Manjit Gill Journal Club.

World has today become a gobal village; cuisines of East and West have strongly got established into every part of the world.

Today people across the globe are converging in to be called as International Citizens and they are all one on the culinary platform breaking the barriers of traditional, national & international boundaries.

SICA CULINARY COMPETITION AND EXHIBITION

The 3rd edition of the prestigious South Indian Culinary Association (SICA) Culinary Competition and Exhibition 2014 was held at Hotel Benzz Park, Chennai, from the 14th August, which culminated with the Award ceremony held on the 18th August. The Award Ceremony was presided over by Sri ACS Arun Kumar, President, Dr. MGR Educational and Research Institute University, Maduravoyal, Chennai, as the Chief Guest. The event was conducted as a part of Ahar International Food Fair, 2014, which had the support of ITPO & TNTPO. Around 3000 professionals from Hotel and Hospital industry graced and took active part in the event.
