6th Edition of SICA Culinary Challenge & Exhibition 2023 – Highlights

The 6th Edition of the SICA Culinary Challenge & Exhibition 2023, India’s first Worldchefs-endorsed national competition, was held from September 15 to 17, 2023, at the Chennai Trade Centre, Nandambakkam. This prestigious culinary vent brought together top chefs, students, and industry professionals from across India and Asia, celebrating innovation, creativity, and India’s rich culinary heritage.

The competition aimed to elevate the status of chefs and young culinary aspirants, foster creativity, and provide a platform for global exposure and professional growth. It also served as a pathway for selecting Indian teams for international representation. Pre-event pastry and hot plate workshops were conducted nationwide to enhance participant readiness.

A major highlight was the exceptional performance of students from the Faculty of Hotel Management & Culinary Arts, Dr. M.G.R. Educational & Research Institute, Chennai. The team secured multiple Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals across diverse categories including appetizers, table layout, artistic pastry showpieces, desserts, live competitions, and innovative biryani. Notable winners included S. Dharshan, M. Muthu Chippi, Janardhanan B., Pradeep S., and Chef Siva Kumar.

The event stood as a grand celebration of culinary excellence, inspiring future chefs and reinforcing industry-academia collaboration at a global level.

Incredible Chef Challenge 2024

Competition Held At Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, September 19–22, 2024:  This 4-day national-level competition brought together participants from numerous colleges across the country, showcasing talent across 9 exciting categories, including Live Pasta Cooking Competition, Artistic Bakery Showpiece, Live Cooking Challenge, Cake Decoration – Dress the Cake, and more.

Representing our university, a total of 25 students from both 2nd year B.Sc. Hotel Management & Catering Technology and B.A. Culinary Arts participated in this competition. Of the 25 participants, 16 achieved an impressive total of 24 medals, including  5 gold medals –  5 silver medals – 14 bronze medals.

Budding Chef Challenge - 2024

India’s 1st ‘Farm to Table Culinary’ event – organized by ACCASI Hosur-635103.  Greatly delighted to share the resounding success of the Students of HOTEL MANAGEMENT & CULINARY ARTS in the BUDDING CHEF CHALLENGE – 2024

 India’s 1st ‘Farm to Table Culinary’ event – organized by ACCASI, held at Asian Christian Culinary & Agricultural Science Institute, Hosur-635103, on the 27th & 28th November, 2024, winning .  A total tally of 40 Glittering medals ( Gold-7; Silver-13; Bronze-20 & Merit-02).     

Incredible Chefs Challenge 2024 – Bengaluru, – Scheduled From The 13 Th To 15Th June, 2024

The three day event was a National level Culinary Competition. 90 Students of HMCT & CA participated in different classes & Categories of Culinary challenges. There were Gold, Silver and Bronze medals to be won.  Different categories of competitions were spread out over 3 days – 13th, 14th and the 15th June, 2024.

Event Outcome:

Totally 42 medals were won by the students and the breakup of the Winners were: Gold – 04   Silver- 11   Bronze – 27

Sixth Edition of the India Bakery Expo 2024, Organized By The Tamil Nadu Bakers Federation - India

20th to 22nd September 2024;  Venue Chennai Trade Centre, Nandambakkam, Chennai. We are thrilled to announce that our B.A. Culinary Arts and B.Sc. Hotel Management & Catering Technology students from the Faculty of Hotel Management & Culinary Arts participated in the India Bakery Expo’24 (6th Edition), South India’s Biggest Bakery Expo and Won 60 gold medals & appreciation certificates.

3-day  –  A total of 37 students participated in the competition, with some competing in more than one category. Our students not only showcased exceptional talent but also won medals and certificates in the bakery competition. They earned a total of 60 gold medals across three categories: 19 golds in Dry Cakes & Cookies, 14 golds in European Breads & Viennoiserie, and 27 golds in Wedding Cake, along with appreciation certificates.
