The Lecture demonstration on the methods of cooking was a session that made the students of the Faculty of Hotel Management & Catering Technology of Dr. MGR Educational & Research University to be engrossed to know from the Guest speaker so many things on cooking. The event was held at the college campus on the 16th December, 2011.
The Chef, Paul Noronha, Executive Chef, My fortune, Chennai, took the students on a travel to delineate the intricacies of cooking. “Cooking is not just cooking, but it is a controlled activity that the Chef would have on the variations of degrees of heat to be applied for cooking in a given frame of time which would again vary for different items taken up for cooking. And there are several other allied hand-mind coordinated activities which are to be very closely adhered to so that the dish is perfectly cooked” the chef said.
Cooking – in heat, range and method varies for different dishes to make them differently appealing to the palate. The session which happened to be totally subject oriented for the students, they found it important and useful for understanding and upgrading their skills.
