It was a revolutionary charity event organized and coordinated by the Faculty of Hotel Management & Catering Technology, Dr. MGR Educational & Research Institute University, on the 7th April 2009, in which over 12000 underprivileged children were served with gourmet lunch freshly prepared by several leading hotels. The format of the event was such that we could identify and visit a school with underprivileged children every month and present a sumptuous meal prepared by chefs from various hotels. The objective was to make a difference to the lives of underprivileged children.
Chef Amudhupadai was a unique event conceptualized and co-ordinated by the department of Hotel Management and Catering Technology and executed by the Indian Federation of Culinary Associations (IFCA) – Southern Regional Chapter and Sri Krishna Sweets. This is one of the significant community outreach programs that touched the lives of 12000 children over a year. The menu included varieties of biriyanis, milk shakes, noodles, ice creams, spring rolls, candies, popcorn and much more.
