The 2nd edition of International Sushi Training Workshops was jointly organized by sushi & JETRO with the active participation of the Faculty of Hotel Management & Catering Technology, Dr.M.G.R. Educational & Research Institute University. The faculty members and the students of the department supported the event organization with Mr. Prabu, Head of the Department, HMCT providing necessary organizational support. The highly popular Sushi preparation was demonstrated in workshops held on 13th & 17th February 2016, at Bangaluru & Virajpet, respectively.
This second edition of the workshop presented opportunity for Chefs in India to learn the Art of Sushi making directly from the Sushi Masters drawn from the All Japan Sushi Association – Sushi Skills Institute, Japan. The event was considered very important since internationally acclaimed Master Chef Masayoshi Kazato and Chef Hideo Kazato specially flew from Japan for conducting the workshops.
The Chief Secretary, Government of Karnataka, Shri Arvind Jadhav IAS, was the Chief Guest on the occasion at Bangaluru. Consulate of Japan Bengaluru, Mr. Junichi Kawaue & Mr. V.R. Venkatadri, Principal / Secretary, Institute of Hotel Management, Bangaluru and other leading chefs were the other guests on the occasion at Bengaluru. Dr. Cyril Raj, Dean, Engineering Technology, Dr. MGR Educational & Research Institute University was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. Shri Kavinder Singh, the Managing Director of Mahindra Holidays & Resorts India Limited inaugurated the residential program at the Club Mahinda Resort, Virajpet, where the Workshop was conducted. Ms. Chaaya Nanappa, Managing Partner, Nectar Fresh was the Guest of Honour. Mr. Hidehiro Ishiura, Director General, JETRO delivered his special address on the occasion. Mr. Prabu, Head of the Department, Hotel Management & Catering Technology, represented Dr. MGR Educational & Research Institute University
The initiatives from both the countries were well received. The workshops were much appreciated by the Chefs from different parts of the country and also the student chefs, who were witness to them. JETRO also from their side thanked appreciated the close co-operation and the arrangements made for the workshops.
